Its a small world...
Yesterday I met another HAM operator while in Roanoke. She commented to Lily and I as we were walking to the car from the ophthalmologists office squeaking a little toy she got that her dogs were trained to that same squeak and that it was a good thing they were not there because they would have been going nuts! I happened to notice she had a handheld amateur radio with her and so I asked her if she was a HAM. She said she and her husband were both amateur radio operators and there was a check in for the local schools on the net and for every check in they had, they got so many points. She had checked in already and was just monitoring the frequency. We chatted for a bit about all kinds of things and realized that the more we talked, the more we had in common!! Our families were very familiar down to her and her husbands call signs being similar to my parents call signs. She even is an artist and quilts just like my mom! They say its a small world and it totally is!!
